Sarah is a Licensed Professional Counselor with experience working with preteen, adolescent, and adult clients. Using a combination of therapeutic modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, she aims to help individuals heal from past traumas and develop healthier thinking patterns. She believes that it is more than just the negative events themselves that cause us to feel stuck, but our experiences of those events. Through the use of these techniques, she hopes to help clients reprocess past experiences and identify negative cognitions that are prohibiting them from leading the life to which they aspire. With the understanding that the therapeutic relationship between the client and therapist is a vital part of the counseling process, she strives to create a safe and warm environment for each person who steps through the door. Her favorite quote to describe the healing that can be found through counseling is, “Shame dies when stories are told in safe places.” -Ann Voskamp
